Thrifting is fun. You honestly never know what you're going to find - a brand new Free People top, or a 1980's white leather jacket, it really all depends on the time and place. I've had days where I walk out with nothing (which is totally fine), and days where I admittedly spent waaaay too much (Sorry Mr.Wallet). But lately, I've been scoring some great things and I'd thought I'd share.
Here are my recent finds at the Goodwill in Santa Ana! I've found that Goodwill received all the surplus items that the love Targets do not sell, so I usually score some brand new things even though they're at the second hand store!
Here are some of the things I found:

Paper Crane Babydoll crochet cream tunic $2.50

Audrey burgundy cold shoulder blouse $7 (Charged me as a sweater, oh well.)
So here it is with the jacket:

The jacket is also a thrift store find! It was made by flying tomato and is, dare I say it,"vegan leather". (Aka pleather) I scored it for literally $3. Can I get an AMEN?!
I guess it was true when they said "One man's trash is another man's treasure." (Whoever 'they' were.) My friends are constantly asking how I do it, and I always say "Mama taught me how to shop", which is very true, but the trick is also pretty methodical for me.
Quality
I look for color and fabric. It's so easy to get lost in a thrift store, or any store where the clothes are all just kinda jumbled together. However, if you go in with an idea of what colors are in, and what fabrics are of higher quality, it's much easier to spot out the diamonds in the very very rough.
It might be there for a reason
Another piece of advice is to always try it on. Never leave the store with something you haven't tried on. Although it may look of decent quality on the hanger, you might just find out why someone had donated it in the first place when you take it into the dressing room.
Don't forget the shoes!
Shoes are another area where I typically score. I can't even name how many pairs of brand new leather boots I have seen and scored at local thrift shops over the years. Shoes are much more difficult, however. Like clothes, you HAVE to try them on. Make sure they fit and the heels are still in tact before buying them. If they're falling apart, skip them and save that money for a pair of new ones instead. Sometimes it's just not worth it.
Well there it is, my secret to scoring at second hand stores. (Alliteration at its finest.) I hope you guys enjoy and score some awesome finds this Holiday Season!
Stay Beautiful,
Megs
